We have launched the Genome Network Project with the purpose of clarifying the whole truths by thoroughly investigating the network within the living body with a central focus on transcription control. With this purpose in mind, the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), a core facility, and other main research institutes have produced experiment data relating to the following information: 1) transcription starting position of human genes in the human genome, 2) conjunction to control region on transcriptional factors and the human genome 3) protein-protein interaction with a central focus on transcription factors. We developed the information platform by adjusting the above-mentioned data in order to make them available as an information system as well as to create an integrated database so that not only members of the project but also other researches and the general public can make use of it broadly.
We take great pleasure in making the data available in association with each institute and open it to the public on our website. We feel strongly that we could provide a significant key to solving crucial problems in the near future, by making use of data for applied searches intended for genome level research and disorder or drug discovery, while understanding the high-feature of life information on the genome level. We made every effort to dramatically improve the platform and the integrated database. In addition, we are planning to analyze the data in the above-mentioned procedure and develop algorithms so that we can strengthen coordination for more knowledgeable discovery.

Building up human genome network platform
At first we integrate organically the genome information in existence into the data attained from the research institutes that participate in the genome network. We aspire to structure the system so that we can provide you with useful data for analyzing individual life workings by the above-mentioned integration. In addition, we will feedback the data at the result of the individual life workings experiments and accumulate a wider range of information.
Then, we supply you with the data in a manner that can contribute to academic research and industrial fields extensively.

Analysis of Genome Feature Information
We analyze expression adjustment region of human genome and elucidate interaction between biological molecules (protein, etc) concerned with gene expression. On this basis we carry out these exhaustive analyses for genomic features in order to supply valuable data for analyzing individual life workings to the human genome network platform.
Analysis of Individual Biological Process
We focus on each theme such as individual disorder, life phenomenon, development of new drugs, and carry out research with these factors. We aim at developing new medicines, treatment techniques and elucidating life workings.
Horizontal Researches Institutes
The horizontal research institutes consists of two prominent parts. One is our humane genome network platform, and another is a round of research that analyzes genome information.
Analytical data are sent from the following institutes to the platform: Dr. Hayashizaki of RIKEN Genomic Sciences Center, Dr. Iwayanagi of Hitachi, Ltd. - Life Science Group, Dr. Shirahige of Tokyo Institute of Technology - Center of Biological Resources and Informatics/ and Dr. Yanagawa of Keio University -Dept. Biosciences and Informatics
Dr. Akiyama of the University of Tokyo - Institute of Molecular and Celluar Biosciences and Dr. Kanno of the University of Tokyo - Graduate School of Frontier Sciences adjust retrovirus or clone, and then notify the information from the platform to numerous re! searchers.

The horizontal research institutes play the role of consolidating data. Furthermore, the database is structured by integrating public data and released to the public in the Human Genome Network.
Vertical Research Institute
Each research institute proceeds to narrow down the target to analyze specific life workings.
The data generated by the horizontal research institutes are integrated under the Human Genome Network Platform. The integrated data are utilized by the vertical research institutes. In addition the deprived data at the results of usages by the vertical research institutes are fed back to the platform to structure more useful data.

Some groups of vertical research institutes promote the development of technology with a view to genome analysis techniques in the next-generation genome. They have aspirations for development analysis technique platform from current perspectives.
External Participating Research Institute
At present for external inviting research institutes which are in a process of selection, unlike the public research institutes, participate in research by their own resources. We aim at opening opportunities for a lot of research institutes so as to obtain excellent results.
